Public Domain, 2020

Public Domain is a commentary on the limits of archives. The work captures research done examining public domain art, public art, and publicly-funded art. Much of this work is not digitized or accessible. Who gets access to public knowledge and what are the barriers to obtaining this knowledge? Digital spaces are not often considered public spaces and therefore haven’t been concerned with access and democratization. The existence of the internet and information available through the internet does not relegate it as an equalizer if information relegated to the public domain is not accessible by the public it hopes to reach.

This project is a collaboration with writer and critic Amanda Ball.
